The hook on these is very distinctive , otherwise i would not know from what region this was from. These belts are very florid usually . Do you know what plant material was important to them? i have seen on some poppies. Would be interesting to do an article focused on flowers and organic matter and then how it is important to each culture.
Dear Linda; Many thanks for your message. The fruits on this belt could actually be chestnuts - what do you think? I have a belt buckle with strawberries on it - very beautiful! With kind regards. Peter
A truly wonderful belt. I like the buckle in particular. Thanks for posting, Peter.
To me it looks like flower buds, Peter. I have a particular flower in mind, but not being great gardener, I cannot recall the name. Regards, Betty
It does to me also, but not clear enough for me to tell. What do you think it looks like? I'm looking at the flower that emerges from the center of the buckle seen at a side view and to me it looks like Pasque flower which is something from Bulgaria. I grow it here. The center of the other plaques also look similar but they are raised out and usually this flower is flatter. Let me know what you are thinking of and I can see if it rings any bells.
