Dear Linda; Many thanks for your message. I have just returned to Jordan after some great time at my home in France. Well, I have my books of Bulgarian jewelry and belts all at my home but next time I will look it up and let you know. As mentioned before, this is a high purity silver belt from the 18th Century - quite rare. With kind regards. Peter
Hi Peter and Linda,
I hope I am able to help out a bit here. I have a copy of the book 'Bulgarian buckles and Belts' and there is a similar belt shown on page 53. It says that it is from Sofia. And there is also a similar belt in another book called 'Bulgarian National Costumes and Folk Jewellery' on page 154, saying that thip type is from South Bulgaria.
Thanks Howah, I have the second book but not the first one, will look it up. There is so much diversity in this part of the world, unlike Central Asia where there is less variation. i like it because of the over tones with Europe and Islamic culture and also in some cases the Mongolian influence is there also.
