Yomud protective back pendant

This particular type of ornament is widely seen as among the very best produced by the Turkoman, in this case the Yomud people (characteristically so, in style and workmanship). It is a heavy and imposing plait decoration ("satschmondschuk") worn on the back, made of gilt silver and carnelians. One of our best Turkoman pieces, without a doubt.
