Ottoman Hairpin Bulgaria 1

This was sold to me as an Ottoman Hairpin from Bulgaria. Size of the flower approx. 4 x 3,8 cm, made of old coins. I think it is more a pin to wear on a jacket collar (?). it Looks very very old and I dare not clean it (for fear it would get damaged), except for the front coins.

  • Splendid photo Eva.Yes looks very old and rare, haven't seen many like that............I love the old Ottoman coins and the mix of styles as in a lot of Ottoman pieces.

  • @Thank you Chantal. It is my only Ottoman piece so far, as I collect mainly African items. I am a complete layman (laywoman) about Ottoman culture. But it really seems to be very very old and rare. I  keep it in the small plastic bag in which it arrived after I have tried to clean it a little.... just a little in order not to damage it, (until I perhaps wear it on my winter's beret.........)

  • Eva, what a wonderful pictures! How did you get it so beautiful ? And the hairpin is very special!
  • @Akkie: thank you very much. It is just a violet glass, on which I laid the pin... but thanks a lot.
