A digital archive showcasing the extensive collection of jewellery and adornment images shared on the former Ethnic Jewels Ning site over the years. These images have significantly enriched discussions on cultural adornment and its global dispersion.

These crosses can be from small to enormous. The Gojjam area was (is?) a wealthy area in Ethiopia and these crosses wee not seen in the market until quite late in the years, after 1978 is when they came into my collection. 835/1000 in silver value.

  • A strong design in all its variations. Would the diamond shaped tops always hint to a Gojjam origin?

  • Betty I never thought of that, but now that you mention is,  It is a strong feature and not to be seen on other area crosses.  I really miss being in Ethiopia to follow up on these questions coming up.
