My favorite beads besides the silver Jimma beads. Look at the beautiful shape and the deep color and glow. Inside these beads are lighter. They get their deep color through many years of exposure to the heat of the sun and the skin. They are worn in EThiopia for protection just like the amber beads.

  • Just beautiful! Can you tell how old the very dark once would roughly be?

  • I would place them between 80 to 100 yrs.  If you know how little 20 yrs have affected them, just a burned yellow.  These beads are mostly worn by the nomadic , like the Afars and they are always walking in the sun, and the people in Harargue.
