  •  Yes this is one i have not seen and if I have not paid attention as this is so nice a quality , it is hard to avoid! love the work on the ends very beautiful pear and round shapes in gilt and with the surrounding frames.  By the look of this, the woman was high ranking as it looks special and something done by special design rather than a completely regular workmanship.

  • Dear All; Many thanks for your messages. When I bought this piece, the dealer told me that this used to belong to a princess. Now I do not know whether this is true, however, I have spent hours (and I mean many hours) with this dealer in his shop with countless teas and hours of talk, discussing the various pieces in his shop (and the ones, he would bring the next day from home...) and the ones from my collection, photos of which I keep on my mobile phone. This is a family business and they all travel the world extensively. Especially one of the brothers was extremely knowledgeable. Needless to say that I bought a lot from him. When visiting Oman, I am always staying first 2 nights in Muttreh and look what is available in the shops there. After that, I travel for 3 days into the interior to Nizwa, Bahla, etc. and then again to Muscat. Then, I have got a quite a good picture of what is available and can choose my purchases carefully. With kind regards. Peter
