  • This is extremely lovely. Such fine work!

  • Dear John; This is lovely! What makes this Georgian? The way the filigree has been done? I have recently seen a belt with the same kind of filigree. With kind regards. Peter
  • Thank you Betty. I have three other filigree nipples but of all the silver work this one is just so elegant in design and smith work
  • Thank you and yes, most of the filigree work on daggers , swords, belts etc are of Georgian style and production. Georgian silversmith as well as arminian produce the highest quality work. Each Caucasian region had specific styles weather Circassian with their smooth niello flat work, the kubaschi with their deep cut patterns etc. But at the end of the day it was a consumers market and Cossacks ordered the most popular patterns of the day.
  • Very interesting John, Thank you for sharing the photos and the information. Like Peter I find it often difficult to say which of the styles was typical for which region. I saw beautiful work of a similar style as this belt nipple in the Georgian National Museum, so I could identify this as Georgian. But Daghestani I find hard to pinpoint at times as they were Masters of so many different styles...
