Hillary's button

A button from Hillary's 'secret' box: silver, crenellated, filigreed, decorated with carnelians and probably made by a Saryk silversmith a long time ago. Now the centre point of a necklace .. supported by three ancient carnelians on either side and finished with a simple silver chain.

  • The button has remained intact and the stud on the back bears witness to its previous uses as a cloak button or guljaka. Dimensions: 6.5 x 16.5 cms. with dangles

  • Thanks very much Linda, Lynn, Johanne and Akkie. I understand that Hillary (Ethnic Embellishments) had the button in her box for a long time but had always intended that it would be a necklace. It was she who collected the carnelians and designed the necklace. I love it and it has collected many complimentary comments.
