The corral beads are also on the cross of Betty's treasure. Do you think that was particular for the Bulgarian crosses? How exciting to have the icons inside from carved wood. Impressive again. Gr. Ingrid.
Dear Peter, these crosses are all gorgeous! This one reminds me of an old carved Russian reliquary cross we have which is housed in a simple silver frame. The coral beads are indeed very similar to the way the coral beads are fixed on my pectoral cross. I still think Alaa may have a point saying it might originate in Turkey rather than Bulgaria. It's just a feeling, though...
