  • Gorgeous necklace, I am very jealous.  I would place it in Syria.

  • You are absolutely right Lynn. The triangular elements are typical Syrian. But then again, the cross border trading during earlier days was enormous. There were some items, especially when it came to embroideries but also jewelry, which were produced in Syria but worn elsewhere. Some fabrics had to be also sent to Turkey for the most complicated embroideries. In Turkey, they would only do some of the embroidery work, which could not be done elsewhere and then send the piece back to be finished mostly in Syria... The Levant has such an incredible history which is being destroyed in front of our eyes and the most capable artisans sent across the world as refugees... Believe me, I am trying my very best to catch whatever I can get my hands on from Syria, Palestine and Iraq as the old times will never come back, unfortunately... With kind regards. Peter
