A very old "sea ivory" bracelet from Savu

The way the ivory is cut and shaped for bracelets of this type creates a pair of "eyes" on the edges of the bracelet, on either side of the splits where wood pegs are used to allow the bracelets to be opened and closed again.

  • These type of bracelets are pretty rare.  I have one left , had two they are small though and are collectors items only hard to wear although at one point they fit me , won't say how long ago!
