Some information from W.Ganguly's book:Origin: districts bordering Kerala and Karnataka, IndiaVisari = palm leaf fan, muru = wind."Palm leaf fans, which inspired the name of this earring, are a common tool of Indian housewives to kindle their fire in the kitchen.The visiri murugu shows a 'kirtimukha' - the lion-headed demon, a manifestation of the god Shiva's power.3 cm wide and 2.5 cm long.The hook is not original. I had it added to make this wearble. The hook is glued on and can be easily removed without damaging the piece.
