Beautiful and unusual.
Edith, here's that lapis again!
Yes, indeed....there it is! Sodra necklaces are so rare...I only saw a few while in Tunisia. The bell-shaped pendant often appears on a type of head ornament called a "gnadel". Gnadels are arranged as a series of 5 or 6 graduated bell shapes, the largest on top, smallest on bottom. One set of ornaments are suspended on either side of the head. (Almost purchased a set in Djerba, but ran out of money.)
Lovely and new to me so it`s great to learn more about it, Edith.
A lovely piece - and it is great to have these informative comments as well, Linda and Edith. Once again, one feels that Tunisian jewellery is "under-exposed", and you both deserve great praise for giving it due attention, as do Toya, Hillary, ayis, and Frankie!
