very special, like the little pendants on the buckle (if this is the correct word), cute!
The silverwork on these shoes is incredible. Can't even imagine someone would actually wear these in fear of possible damage to these.
Any additional info on these?
I posted these for Howah.. I thought you would like these.. yes these are parade shoes, worn by young boys or young girls with festive costumes for religious festivals. I saw a pair like them at the Denver museum of art and they said they were rare,, the costumes are quite fancy also. These are lt 19th / early 20th c The small amulets are call milagros and they help ward off harm to body parts or keep wearer safe and healthy.. These shoes are used over and kept by costume keepers of the Church where most of the religious figures and floats are housed for the parade..
@great info, thanks, I heard this name milagros before, but had forgotten, as I do not collect South American items. I remember having seen them somewhere (for selling), but as single pieces not on the shoes (which is much nicer). So this is where they are from-- special shoes (nice to know).
Hi, thanks for posting these. I do really like these and I see the resemblance with the bigger pair of Peruvian shoes in my collection. I really love the red fabric behind the silver. The combination red and silver is very powerful and the fabric backing gives it a nice 3d effect. I also really like the colour tone of your photos. It brings out the details and also the sheen of the metalwork very well. Is it a special filter on your camera you use to achieve this effect?
I use natural light and no flash.. when flash is used it flattens out the photos. I don't have time for a set up with good lights and tripod.. i did that always or had photos made but not living in the city no one does it easily here.. so I do scans, natural light photos or bad photos.
Oh yes - I completely agree. They are wonderful! And as you can see, they generate a lot of interest!!
