Aren`t they splendid! With some of the best constituent silver beads. Those kazakh wheel beads are my favourite type of ethnic bead of all time. But that price....phew! I`m sure you could find some online for less. Your enthusiastic description of your reaction has encouraged me to bring my own out into the daylight. I had originally thought they were Tadjik necklaces but now understand that they`re Uzbek from Khorezm. T H will tell you.

Gorgeous pieces, Angelo. But you need a better price :)) @ Frankie, it's great to hear from you again! I must admit my mouth fell open when you told us about the Uzbek connection of these necklaces. Do tell me more ... I'm not on Facebook. I'd always thought they belonged to the mountain Tajiks. Janata, one of the best authorities in this area, in his book Schmuck in Afghanistan has a section on the jewellery of the mountain Tajiks in which these necklace feature prominently. I remember discussing yours a couple of years ago.... the Pamirs etc.
Btw ..in the dr Bir book collection one is listed as Tajik…...

Tribal Heritage has said that the more luxurious of these necklaces, as Angelo has shown, were made in Khorezm, Uzbekistan. But I suppose it`s quite possible they were made for Tadjik weddings all the same. Apparently there are lesser ones that are made in Tadjikistan.
They are sometimes described as Tibetan or Nepalese too!
