prostitutes photos framed as pendants

I collected 19th c hand colored photos of prostutitutes and framed them in silver and put on antique south Indian chains. The girl on the right is from Manipur and the girl on the left is from Kashmire. The Moghul Princes would use these albums as a gesture to guests who would make arrangements with the many girls from all states of India. I purchased an album and made pendants as necklaces for sale. These are the two I kept for myself.

  • Linda, your collection, including the ones you have parted with, is awe-inspiring. I find many of your Indian pieces heart-stoppingly beautiful, and the photos never fail to cheer up my day. 

  • thanks for the compliments. I miss having the availablity of goods to get the design blood flowing.   One doesn't  see the unusual elements as much. The 70's -early 90's to me were the days of great exposure. I'm happy to have been able to get my hands into it when it was going on.
