Ohh this is a beauty!!
I like the beads especially. The shape of the silver pieces too are typical of that Chinese Turkestan area.
I had buttons like this also that were spectacular and sold. You hardly ever see this material on the market, it is quite rare.
uighur jewellery is very hard to find. there is as far as i know very little documentation about it. i have 2 big heavy books in chinese about clothing and jewellery of all 55 ethnic minorities in china and the chapter about the uighur features very little jewellery. this piece is definitely museum quality!
Hi
I will list other things I have sold so that one can become familar with it. It's very rare you're right. I did have a piece I put together with two parts of a headdress too that I sold as well as buttons otherwise not much around. Many dealers don't recognize it as other than something Central Asian which it is not so sometimes it is mixed in with that group and this is how I acquired it.
If you ever deceide to sell this one.......
I'll keep you in mind but it's the last Uighur piece I own now. I sold two in the last few years. I don't see them coming anymore or lately that is.
thanks ;)))
Magnificent!
Photo found on flickr of someone who went to a Chinese museum and photographed this rare piece.
