  • Does this style pendant have a particular name?   Thanks in advance!
  • Marlene has an almost exact copy of this hirz on www.ethnic-silver.com website under jewelry from Yemen. It is number  A/331. It is described as A nice old non-precious metal Bedouin " Hirz " charm case, from Yemen. This rectangular charm case is decorated with beaded wire, filigree and red glass. A very good sample made up with mixed metals. See more details and similar samples in " The Art of Bedouin Jewellery ..." by Heather Colyer Ross, p. 107. It measure about 9.5 cm. ( 3.74" ) in height and the width is 7.8 cm. ( 3.07" ). The thickness is 1 cm. ( 0.39" ). Weighs 72 grams ( 2.53 Oz ). So it is Bedouin, but, I have also been told that people from the Horn wear these too, as, perhaps some in Northern Ethiopia near Harar.
  • Hi Patricia - that's where I saw it!!!  Could not remember whose site - nor could I find it again - thanks a million - I will update my description. :)
