Old Coral Beads

It is difficult to find the old coral in Tunis. The markets here are flooded with newer Chinese stuff, most of it shaped, polished and dyed. I found these beads in al-Djem. The holes are well worn and the color has not been altered (except by age).

  • Do you sell those? I am always interested in those kind of beads. 

    The stuff from China is a awful invention. Every were in all countries it is being sold and very often as the real red coral. But the dealers now what it is and mostly the prices are very low. Sometimes the coloring is done very well and you have to cut a bead to see the inside which is cream or whitish.

  • Thanks Harald, but I am not selling anything at the moment.  Truthfully, I had a tough time finding these!!!

  • This is exactly the kind of coral I am looking for. Very difficult to find in Morocco too.
