  • A shield could be a Libyan hallmark,
But my feeling is that this is a couple of very nice antique pendants from Tunisia, which have been added to a more recent torq style arrangement.
From what the pic shows, the hinged arrangement and the perforations on the torq look free of wear....could be wrong but in morocco a similar hinged loop is used to hold batches of necklaces for sale in the souks.
Hope you discover a different conclusion.. S x
  • Thanks Sarah!

What a great display idea for necklaces!!

This one ends in a pair of serpent-head finials, similar to some Egyptian jewellery, but also found in other North African pieces. The ends are not added on, but part of the torque.

This was an inexpensive piece but a charming one, that I can easily wear. So no matter the conclusion, it will be loved and enjoyed :)

  • Hello,it is a torque made of two  Tunisian earrings

  • Curious piece and beautiful Preethi, I agree!!

  • The pendants look Tunisian to me.

  • i see it as a mix of two tunisian earings, maybe chawi but more tunisian

  • The experts have spoken - so Tunisian it is! :) Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

  • Lanajnaj is right. this is a torc made put pf two tunisan earrings called the snake earrings.

It was a common practice of the tunisian dealers to transform the great numbers of earrings that nobody wanted into these necklaces easily sold to the passing tourists who enjoyed to wzar them.
  • Thanks Ayis! And here is another passing tourist who'll enjoy wearing it :)
