  • Where is this from, India?  It looks like silver inlay in iron to me. Very nice shape and lovely designs.
  • i guess this has to be from continental malaysia.

I have seen a couple on sale in an antique shop in Kuala lumpur

    Very impressive indeed

  • Per the "The Splendor of Ethnic Jewelry" pg 191 Belt Buckle from Sumatra Indonesia (Minangkabau) A man's belt buckle , or pandieng.  Islam began to spread into Sumatra late in the thirteenth century, and, as this ornamnet demonstrates, influenced the decorative arts."  Also seen in " The Jewelry of Southeast Jewelry, pg 120 ...similar buckles.
  • These come both from Sumatra (Kathleen) and continental Malaysia (Ayis). The work is fine, but in comparison with a number of others, like the one illustrated in *Ethnic Jewellery*, p. 202, seems comparatively recent.
