  • One sees so little from Egypt or if we see it we don't know it!   Most of what I have seen is not particularly distinctive in a way that I would know it's Egyptian. Is there some typical ornament that is associated with Egypt that is very obvious?  Usually these jewels i confuse with Bedoin jewelry from other countries...

  • Beautiful and very unusual (to me). Was it bought on site or ebay?

  • Very nice Jose, very Nubian too! I like this stuff.

Linda: The most distinctive Egyptian jewelry, I think, are the Zar amulets, the necklaces of Siwa oasis, the Fayum bracelets, the Nubian gold jewelry. The most well known the bracelets with a big plait on top.

  • Elegant necklace, simple and classy. Here is something about Nubian people with a tiny pic of a gold necklace a little bit like this one.http://www.numibia.net/nubia/nubia.htm

  • The Siwa necklaces are  to me the most distinctive and elusive of Egyptian necklaces.images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQDggMYoPmUkm9P_V0dNsL1hDfp2iGKXsjH7ITgs2883bMx1yh7This one is a timeznakt

  • And this one is I think an adwir (?) which is passed down from mother to daughter.lot0946-0.jpg

  • yes I remember now the one below as being the most obviouse Egyptian item. As well as the cuff you mention.  i only have  one piece from Egypt which is a cuff from Siwas and one dress also.  I think I sold the dress at the show. These necklaces below used to come around more often but one rarely sees them now.

  • Tribal Heritage, there is nothing missing from the top of the torque (aghrow). The top is turned down towards the pendant (adrim). But I have the feeling there is something wrong with the open part of this torque. One part of the open ends should not (like in the picture) be passing the other end. See picture below. The 2 end parts should not meet (because the girl who wears the item is a virgin).

  • You thanked Patty so I thought your question was about her  picture below your question.

I am sorry for the misunderstanding.
