  Wonderful find. Congratulations. looks to me to have been inspired by the headdresses with spikes......and also a variety of defence bracelets........Have never seen such like before..........Was it old? Cant wait for the opinion of the Moroccan experts! Really unusual and rare (as far as ebay or even the books are concerned!). Hang on to it.

  Did you get any other treasures?

  Thanks Ait and Chantal. I bought this from Mamoun who is also a member of this forum. He thought it was Tuareg, but he also said he hasn't seen those fish-like markings on Tuareg pieces. He'd like to hear more about it.

  It does seem like a type of defence bracelet. I was wondering if it could be from Libya or Tunisia because of the markings...

  We found loads of really interesting jewellery. I'm yet to unpack, but plan to post the pieces over the coming days.

  sounds interesting unpaking many items, yes please post some nice photos.  this bracelet is not touareg at all. i agree with chantal about the head defenses in some berber jewelry

  I have never come across such a piece in morocco. The workmanship, and the elements of design seem to me to be from elsewhere... The fish, the front closure , the spikes, the whole feel of the piece for me is un Moroccan. I feel there are elements here which echo Oman , Tunisia, possibly a Bedouin feel, a beauty with some age, and very robust and heavy.....certainly an imposing piece. I have seen it in person just yesterday, and in my field of experience feel it is from somewhere other than morocco.....may of course need to revise this opinion and will be delighted to learn anything about the piece.

  i never seen this kind of bracelets, i saw the spikes in berber jewelry in marocco, as Chantal mentionned too. the triangle engraving from sahara but the rest is new for me. i just had a look to the details photo. the openings is not northafrican, at least what i could recognise
