  • A stunner!!

Pakistani? Indian? The containers are at first very elusive but they do make a whole of a difference on any given necklace, one can only guess what heavenly scented material was tucked inside....Hope you will keep the tradition alive Toya!

  • Thank you Ingrid and Alaa-We were thinking possibly Uzbek for origin.

  • 2506022655?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024Dear Toya; Very nice necklace - Congratulations. It originates from the Afghanistan/Iran border region. It is given to a ldy upon marriage for good luck, etc.. Usually the names of the couple is inscribed on the center piece. By the way, such a necklace is also featured in the book "A World of Necklaces". I herewith attach a photo of the one, which is in my possession. It is featuring two amulets, hence, someone has made one necklace out of two. With kind regards. Peter

  • Love this one, Toya. I've always wanted one of these amulets. Is it inscribed with Arabic letters? Possibly something to do with the Koran? I'm wondering whether you have any ideas about the perfume for the little containers :)) I've heard them called incense containers in the past ... so could it be frankincense?

  • Peter-thank you so very much for the information about this necklace. I will look it up in World of necklaces as well. Your own necklace is a real beauty. I love the stories these treasures tell us.  Thelma, I do not know about the perfume but it makes sense that it would be something like frankincense. I want to put something scented inside but am not sure what will be appropriate.
