  • Bought this 35 years ago! The seller told me it’s a watch-chain pendant. Later I have seen the same item as a boy’s luck pendant, maybe somebody knows more?

  • Very cute!  I don't know anything about this jewel, but the dog is one of the 12 zodiac signs.

  • Hi Johanne, I believe it's a protection amulet. Dogs are known for barking and biting thus having the ability to protect the owner against evil. Do you have the book' four centuries of silver' by Margaret Duda ? You'll find lots of information about Chinese jewelry pieces in it including a section on the use of animal protection amulets.

  •  Howah@ Thanks you for your comment, I don't know the mentioned book by Margaret Duda. I will look out for it. I place it on my list of interesting books to buy.
