  • As a follow-up to Edith and Dayna's discussion, thought I'd post a Libyan fibula. There's a Tripoli hallmark on the knob. Thoughts on the age of this piece? Thanks.

  • I think Ayis might have a better idea regarding age.  This same mark appears in Alberini's book on Libyan jewelry.  I think this mark is before Qadaffi, but possibly after the Ottoman left (I think during Ottoman a "tughra" type mark was used.)

    Ayis, here's a close up of the markings on the pin - not sure they're sufficiently sharp though. If not, I'll get another in a day or so.
