The center design band is made from copper. According to various jewelry books, the copper is often mixed with gold, but I could not say for sure if this is the case. I also cannot vouch for the authenticity of the gems. They could be glass or a semi-precious gem such as white topaz.
It is difficult to find these as a matching set in good condition. This set is made from mostly coin silver. The clips and sliders, however, are usually made from copper, brass or iron.
