these are young ( obviously the one to the right was photographed during her wedding and the one the the left is already married!!) jewish girls from south eastern morocco, namely Errachidia, Erfoud, Rissani....but similarly dressed jews were to be found in the whole area of the tafilalet up the high oases in the eastern high atlas as well as in the algerian cities across from the border (colomb bechar...)
Probably around the 1930's or 1940's
Two very important features:
1-The elaborate headress (wig) the girl the the left is wearing
2-The very scarce circle beads the women to the right is wearing in her necklace.... they used to be in silver, sometimes gold and should be considered the most striking element in the moroccan jewelry of african origin
