  • Incredible headdress.
  • Magnific! I'm speechless at the sight of again so many beautiful jewels. All very special. Thanks for sharing.
  • This remains one of the pieces on the list that I will never forget, knowingly,  never seeing  one again..

There are about 10-20 pieces like that.. The ones that I am sorry to have sold..  It's difficult when one makes a living on the things they like themselves.. yet so many more things can come and go and find homes..  If I weren't a dealer,  I wouldn't have had the opportunity to get offered or seen things like this first.  As with buyers, it is often being in a kind of pecking order. Many items never even made my shows.. not so much now because this stuff comes out in waves.. not according to anything special except reasons that force societies and owners to sell , which usually are emmergencies or war, famines.  Many incredible pieces were coming out of central asia 10-15 years ago. Now most of what I'm getting is coming from old collections and the material is also different because years ago collectors only purchased what was around for sale to buy, the same as now. Some areas were not selling earlier and or were not being traveled so widely.   The early expositions of collecting for museums or anthropological research were some times the first good collections, but then nearer to the time of use of the things, many items , treasures were not put out for sale yet as the family were not in upset. During our lives many borders have changed and with the economic hardship and also the death of many of the older generations, these items are not thought of as valuable as they once were by comparison to new technology or some other modern and needed item.  I'm selling to fix the roof or damage from a storm,, otherwise I wouldn't be forced to get rid of what I consider wealth.  it's the way it is always been though so it continues,, trade and interest in antiques and the wealth of others.. I am happy at least to have seen what I have and know it exists and to be able to share it.

  • It's a stunner, Linda, and I can imagine why you still miss it. I know I would, too ...
