  • Edith from where are your jewels

  • This was purchased in Tunis...worn in western Tunisia and Algeria.

  • Very nice!!!

  • Thanks!  A few old photographs taken by Jean Geiser (1848-1923) in his Algiers studio include portraits of women wearing this piece of jewelry.

  • Hi Edith,

I have Jean Geiser book of photos , great pics and great read.

Bet these are less expensive tha the Algerian ones? Very difficult to find the Algerian ones complete.

  • we find them in the aures mountains almost identic . few kilometers to tunisia border.it was one and the same region . from there until algier and some 300 km west.

in the oasis region too. mostly without the chains

  • I looked for a while to find matching pair, but I purchased them for the reasonable price of 2.5TD per gram...a middling price by my standards.  One usually needs to pay a bit more for a matching pair.

  • sorry but now,i do not know how much is the TD in euro

  • Neither do I know what it is in Pouds!.............

  • I think that currently 1 Euro is about 2TD (maybe slightly less).  So 2.5TD would be about 1.25Euro per gram.  I am also still getting some silver at the old price of 1.5TD, but I think it is because the dealers know me for a long time.
