Festive headgear – Mudurnu-Taraklı (Turkey).

Traditional festive headgear from the Mudurnu-Taraklı region (Bolu province), mid-20th century. The ‘yazma’ (large head scarf) is adorned with multicoloured embroidery and edged with needle lace combined with metal sequins. The square shape of the silver ‘tepelik’ (metal cover of the hat) is singular and characteristic of the Bolu province. (Kavak Costume Collection - Antwerpen/Belgium).
