Beautiful! Have never seen one complete like this! Great also the silvereadsbetween the pendants are lovely!
Thank you, folks! I love it, too! Sadly the threading is beginning to rot but I want to keep it as long as possible.
You can buy an almost identical one on the Etsy site titled as being Tibetan (!!) for about 10x what I paid for this. I gently alerted the seller to the mistake but they don`t alter it!
Seems today my typing error day. I meant of course the silver beads between the pendants are also very beautiful! I like the blue wool or cotton thread, it looks great with silver, keep it as long as it lasts! About mistakes - this can happen to everyone, but if told, they should consider it. I found also a pair of Rajastani Earrings being offered as Tuareg. I told them, it took 2 weeks but finally they changed it. Perhaps I will have a look at the "Tibetan" necklace.........but have no money to buy it anyway.
The thread is faded black but it does look rather blue.
The "Tibetan" seller thanked me nicely for the "heads up". I will watch and wait to see what happens. I can`t help feeling a bit cynical about it. No-one with even a small knowledge of ethnic jewellery could see it as Tibetan.
It doesn`t cost to look, Eva. I couldn`t buy it either!
Very beautiful telsum boxes!
I too love beads and jewellery with bumps and squiggles on them (oh alright - granulation and filigree...)
I purchased a similar necklace off ebay recently - a very pretty one, but rather grubby. Did you clean your necklace? How does one clean beads with gilt?
I didn`t clean mine, Preethi. Probably I would just gently scrub such a thing with a soft toothbrush in warm water with washing-up liquid. Then dry immediately in a warm place and give it a gentle buff up.
I fear if I did it to this one the stringing would fall apart.
Any chance we can see a photo of your ebay necklace?
(I like the "bumps and squiggles" description!).
I'll post a photo later today. Is the string on yours cotton? Mine's on newer leather....
Yes, mine`s cotton, Preethi, so would dry easily. I have seen them restrung on leather.
