  • These are japanese millefiori beads. From memory circa 1930, but i will check !
  • Yes date correct! The spherical opaque versions such as these are the most commonly seen, others in gloss colours and different shapes are the more desirable for collectors

  • Thanks Stefany , really useful info. I was not aware that there had been versions made in China. Would these be considered copies of the Japanese beads, or a part of a separate cultural tradition?

    these chinese beads are not copies but may be recently made in somewhat older styles- for example the older ones had clearer-looking millefiori and you can sometimes see the mille canes show as spirals.  

    are you thinking of japanese glass ojime beads, perhaps?
