My absolutely fave piece today. It is interesting that the pieces along the headband seem to have a Central Asian shape -- Is this piece possibly from Western China?
Hi Patti, I can understand your assumption, but this type of head ornament was actually worn by (Han) Chinese women. Here is a close up from the side of the gilded phoenixes on the fabric to give you a clearer view. Thanks also for the praise. I am ofcourse biased, but I too feel that this piece is special. That's why I bought it immediately when I found it, initially for my own collection, but seller had another variant of this headband which I also bought, so that's why I am offering one for sale, which it still is by the way.
A very pleasant and pretty piece, howah! Interesting, too - very much in a Chinese taste.
Very delicate headjewel Howah! A wonder it survived.. A nice find!
