Bethlehem Iznaq Chin-Chain

This is a repost with better photography of a lovely 5-strand iznaq or chin-chain from Bethlehem. This is a large and heavy piece with strong hooks, hand made chains, a special filigree focal bead, and an old and worn Thaler. This necklace was attached to the headdress (shatweh) and worn under the chin. The classic example of the Bethlehem chin chain has seven strands and is called a "sabe' 'rwah" or seven-souls necklace. This one has five souls.
