Belt - Syria

This is a very rare piece and I bought it out of Damascus/Syria. The buckle and the filigree decorations on each side are original and were most probably mounted before on a velvet belt, imported in old days all the way from Germany. • This is lovely, Peter. Have you any idea of the date? Presumably Ottoman era?

  • WOW!!  Congratulations Peter on a most rare and spectacular old museum piece.  I love the tiny circles and coin and floral dangles on the old silver.  Thelma my own guess would be that this belt is from the mid 1800s.  It is marvelously preserved for its age.

  • How did this beauty escape my attention? A great find indeed and certainly quite old. Congratulations, Peter.
