  • Very nice belt especially the buckle with very nice and professional ; filigree. Thanks for posting this Peter.

  • Thank you Mustafa - much appreciated. It is very rare to get belts with the original fabrics still attached to them. I guess that I was lucky. When the dealer in Aqaba was offered this belt to purchase, he immediately called me and I finalized the purchase the same evening. Otherwise, it would have gone most probably to Egypt. At that time, there was always as Syrian-Armenian dealer transiting Aqaba from Syria bringing belts to Egypt to have them copied there.... With kind regards. Peter

  • Fine belt Peter. Glad you saved it! Are the copies ever as good as the original?

  • Dear Nada; Now that is a very good question. Quite frankly, I never saw a copy or at least hope that I did not... Having said that, in Cairo, most of the silver smiths are of Armenian descendants. They are really skilled and can do almost anything. One always has to keep a watchful eye when buying such pieces. With kind regards. Peter
