BELT BUCKLE OTTOMAN

Another belt buckle from the Ottoman period. A very large and heavy piece. There is a purple velvet inserted between the first and second silver layer. A magnificent piece and museum worthy.

  • Dear Lynn; Many thanks for your comments. It could be Syrian. However, I must say that all four of these buckles, which I have purchased from the same collector here in Amman, were most probably made by the same silver smith. Hence, it could as well be Syrian but I definitely believe that it is from the Levant. With kind regards. Peter
