Now I am seriously envious ... a fantastic buckle! I love the understated niello decoration and the single carnelian.

Dear Betty and Alaa; Many thanks for comments. No, there are no marks at the back. However, it looks as the buckle has been gold plated at the back. It could of course be brass but I have not cleaned it and it is not tarnished....
