The tooled leather on this bag is just as special as all the jewels!
Patricia, you can`t see from my poor photo that it`s actually not tooled but embroidered. Much of it is missing now so I am left with the punctured needle holes describing the pattern.
However, I will upload photos of the accessories of a tooled leather bag which I have currently left for Faouzi to oversee the making of a strap for. Having previously thought it was Moroccan, Faouzi has told me it is from Cordoba. It dates from the 1920s.
Oh what a beautiful bag, do you wear it?? I have 2 old Tuareg goat bags I love to wear them.
M-A, I will wear it. Currently I`m looking for a heavy silky dressing gown cord with a tassel or two - It`s probably the nearest thing to what they are traditionally worn hanging from like a shoulder strap.
Do you have photos of your goat bags?
Yes show it off as it deserves to be. Will make pictures of my bags tomorrow.
For Marie-Ange and Patti.

Only a year late for the latter. But lots of lovely Moroccan items to look at, including an embroidered bag.

Colonial arts is a bit rich for me--beatiful purse, though
The auction site is marvelous! Especially the textiles and the paintings!
Interesting on the auction site -- saw a textile valued at about 500 dollars -- recently saw a very similar textile on a dealer site, he was selling it for 7000 dollars ( how shameless is that!)
