as written under picture 1, these rolls contain either texts from the Bible, or magic verses / drawings to protect its owner. Here is another such example (photo by the seller, I have not opened mine).

No, it is not in the Rietberg catalogue, I have never seen such a bracelet being Tuareg! As said, my husband said it is Peul.
