Ah, this is an old one. You do not see many garnets used in Yemeni jewelry. I only know them from the old bracelets from before the time the Jew silversmith's left.
I am trying to figure out how old, hard to say the most Jews left Yemen 1949-1950 for Israel (operation Magic Carpet). So that was the end of their famous silversmithing. So I guess this bead is from before that period.
