nice, different from the usual type of Yemeni bracelets. the white stone looks like a moonstone (Adular) - is this correct?
Unusual and beautiful yemeni bracelets. I love the moonstone(?).
nice bracelets. the shape is completly new for me, the moonstone is also for me new in yemen jewels.
beautiful
@Ait,Jose, do you know anything about the use of moonstone in Yemeni jewelry? Had never seen it used before............or maybe has been added recently? or maybe its not a moonstone? There is moonstone in Ethiopia (is used a lot in modern ethnic jewels but have never seen it used in old jewels........)
for me, as i wrote, moonstone is new for me on yemen jewels. this one looks moonstone but the bue shining of a good moonstone is missing
I am afraid that I am not that familiar with moonstone. How can I tell?. I am attaching some further pics below for if they may help. I apologise for their poor quality. I have found quite difficult to make a decent picture at short distance because of reflections, etc. What I have noticed is that it changes drastically in colour depending on how and how much light sheds on it. It ranges from a sort of deep smoky grey to an almost white. If you know what i mean ....
Hi Jose,
Very difficult to distinguish from some others like labradorites or calchedony..
Look at 280977228469 (moonstone), 300784084183 (chalcedony), and 180981504876 (labradorite).
I am not a specialist so cannot decide for youur bracelet. Someone into beads might be able to.........
thank you jose. it looks not like a moonstone we know. maybe is a kind of moonstone from india called also sunstone. but, it is difficult to recognise throw photos. a good moonstone has always a blue shining.
chantal. the calcedony look like agate, moonstone white, grey until light blue. exactly as the moon. i see the labradorite as the forest in the early morning
I agree it is difficult to recognize from a photo whether it is moonstone or not. But there are two types of moonstone, one has a blueish shining, and there is a more rare one with a beige (brownish shining). Both are moonstones. Whether they are used in Yemen jewellery, I have not the slightest idea, but moonstone is very frequent in India and other counties (also USA, Australia, Sri Lanka, e.g. and being sold through merchants almost everywhere in the world).
Possibly it is not a moonstone, but it is not impossible by its look. Perhaps moonstone (Feldspar group) is not being used at all in Jemeni jewellery (I do not know about Jemeni jewellery)....... just for general info, here are some pictures of different moonstones (Nos 7-10), in various colours, while the brownish ones are more expensive than the white ones with blue shimmer, because they are rarer.
