Vintage silver Tunisian Chichbagouh

Enameled on both sides with coral beads and charms; a lovely piece from Tunisia. I've seen antique pieces, but never vintage pieces, so I don't know if this was made for the local market or the export market. These were worn in Djerba.

  • On the whole a quality necklace.  I love the  deep shine on the large coral beads, also the chains in its simplicity warm.  Of course the pendant itself well balnced and the enamel colors so vivid but not shouting out. I see the horse and the hoofs.  Would this be specially added to the choice of the buyer or did they always come with these little pendants, fish, hoof, horse and anker(?)

  • This piece has horse and fish motifs.  I couldn't say if the dangles were added per the wishes of the lady wearer.  That would be interesting, especially if they had more talimanic effects versus simply being decorative.
