Uzbek headdress disk detail

Detail of headdress. I originally thought this was a encrusted bra but this would not have been used as that in such modest cultures. I believe this is a headdress that is much like the Turkoman varieties in silver only this is a Uzbek version.

  • Definitely a headdress - along the same lines as the one you posted on Rugrabbit. In essence the same structure. But yes, most people at first do think of a bra - which is obviously beside the point. This is a great piece, and I envy you. As you say, clearly Uzbeki. And it is a super piece.
  • These came out about 9-10 years ago and were not easy to find but were there. also the more typical silver ones also at the same time. Perhaps the area for use is same only differing tribes using different types. I wish there was a way to find some old photos. Not seen any yet.
