  • wow  a truly beautiful piece.

Would you refer to these as scented paste beads?

would it be possible to see a close up pic of the heart beads?

    Thanks

    S x

  • definetely scented pastebeads, common in parts of algeria and tunisia. This very one bears enameled and gilded beads wich means that it originates from a tunisian costal city ( probably Mehdia or Moknine)

This necklace is of a high sensual (and erotic) significance, since is some parts of algeria, women were not allowed to wear it when their husband where away from home!!!

Unfortunately i had to part with it recently and it is no longer in my posession

    cheers

  • thank you for the extra info.

These pieces are never truly ours, we are but custodians of them for a short and blissful part of their journey through History.

    Sx

  • If you have a special piece of jewellery, remember that these things endure, and we are just a page in their history. In addition, that piece will probably find loving hands in the years beyond yours and the years beyond that too.

  • Well this is perfect and magnificent in its simplicity and meaning -- it must have been difficult to part with it, I don't think I could have done so.

  • A very arresting piece, ayis!
