  • Wow! They look very nice, never seen this before! Thanks for posting them. Beautiful decorations.

  • this ones are nice, sweden have nice jewelry too

  • These look like snakes wrapped around large persimmons.

  • Does anyone know about Swedish sleigh bells?  Yes, Hillary, these have snakes wrapped around a fruit or maybe a flower...  Does anyone have any idea about this iconography?  They would have made a sound as they clanged against one another.  My friend found them at a flea market in Minnesota.  I would love to have some more information on them!

  • Snakes and apples, seems like a possible biblical reference to me.  What is the documentation that says they are sleigh bells?  What do they look like underneath?

  • Hillary,

Nice thought.  I'll look into it.  My friend bought them from someone in Minnesota who told her that they were sleigh bells.  Another group were on a leather cord.  I have google queried for images online, and found similarly shaped Swedish sleigh bells, but none with the snake image.  There are hallmarks on the bottom indicating date and provenance.

  • Are we seeing the bottoms of the bells here?

  • Yes, this is the bottom of the bells.
