A bit late on the date, but like you wrote yourself Kathleen, this box has all the caracteristics of being tooled in Ethiopia. including the red glass, sometimes a piece of bycicle light. The bells with the tooled eyes, also the chain is from the Harrar (lovely solid). The flat granulate. A great solid piece and it looks for Ethiopia good coin (Maria Theresa) silver. mostly comes to about 700/1000 They mix the coin with copper ( this comes from the time when the first Maria Theresa Thalers used to be sterling silver instead of the later mint of 800/1000 .
