  • An interesting piece! Do you know what the script is inside the star? Is it part of an old coin?
  • Wow thats a beautiful necklace x
  • Thanks Sarah and Suzan!

This kind of pendant was used as the end of a forehead band, you can find one on the cover page of the book: Silver Speaks, Traditional Jewelry from the Middle East.  The inscription inside the star says: Allah on top, and then the name of the jeweller: Abdallah. The arabic numbers show the year 1386 Hegira, circa 1965.

I love the net made of flat beads and the little hamzas on the bottom. X

  • Amazing piece, always love pieces that have some kind of signature. Are you able to travel to Yemen now?
  • Hi Patty, this was a surprise I found in a coins shop in Taiz, I loved the engraved name inside the star. Unfortunately Yemen is having a civil war these days, hope they resolve the situation soon. X
